Human Resources and Compensation

Use this guide to locate information about human resources

Research Strategies

To find and analyze the compensation strategy of a particular company:

1. Find out all you can about that company's compensation strategy using:

  • Company profiles in Business Source Premier
  • Company dossier from LexisNexis Academic
  • Annual reports from company websites
  • Proxy statements (additional reports to their 10-k annual SEC report), which contain a section about compensation - Note, these are public reports, and can be found through a Google search
  • News articles

2. Apply what you know about that company's compensation strategy to peer review sources

  • Search ABI Inform or Business Source Premier, narrow down to peer review or scholarly sources, and adjust the date to find more recent articles.
  • Most of these sources won't be specifically about your company, but a broader compensation topic
  • Try searches for labor unions, minimum wage, CEO compensation, stocks, benefits, pay range, etc., as they relate to issues or theme from your company research.
